Hello BOOST Parents! I hope this note finds you well and your children shared all of the interesting information we learned on our trip to the United Nations. This is a reminder that if you are planning to accompany us on our trip to Washington D.C. on May 4th, your 1st deposit of $25.00 is due Wednesday (2/1/12). One adult may accompany their child on the trip and your deposit is non-refundable as we need to have a definite count on the number of people that will be traveling with us. The payments thereafter will be on 2/15, 3/1 and 3/15 all $25.00. If you would like to pay in full that is fine as well. Thanks for your support.

U.N. Assignment Due 2/3
Good evening BOOST members! I hope you had a relaxing weekend and was able to share all of the wonderful information you learned from our United Nations tour with your family. The trip was very informative and everyone was well behaved and attentive. Great Job!!!
Here is your assignment that is due to your assigned teacher by Friday, 2/3/12.
Pretend you are a travel magazine writer and you are writing an article about your visit to the U.N. In your article include as much information (details) about our visit. How does the United Nations work towards ensuring there is peace around the world? Think about the process we had to go through just to get into the building, the 5 parts that make up the United Nations for example. Also, include your personal reflection of the the trip. Ms. Brown and myself are looking forward to reading your responses. Make sure you email and post here on our blog.

Project B.O.O.S.T.
Assignment
Task:
As we prepare for our first trip on January 27, 2012, we need to gain some
background knowledge on the United Nations.
Our theme for the year is Peacemakers Then and Now and the U.N. is a
great place to begin our journey.
Go to the website www.visit.un.org, and go on a
mini scavenger hunt to find the answers to the following questions.
1. How many countries (states) belong to the
United Nations?
2. When a visitor walks through the entrance of
the U.N. they have left American soil and have entered what kind of territory?
3. When was the United Nations created?
4. What is the name of UN Secretary General and
what country is he/she from?
5. Explain the purpose of the United Nations.
6. Create 2 questions you would like to ask our
tour guide, as a result of exploring the United Nations website.
The answers to these questions are to be submitted to
both Ms. Brown and Ms. Haigler via email on or before Monday, January 23, 2012.
